Coffee
A very powerful software (improved and recompiled by Lupo PenSuite Team) that allow to make portable file association. It will be included in the next Suite release, but this is the official software in preview:

Re: Coffee
YAY!!!!
Note that Cafe has been renamed to eXpresso.
BTW, I think that you should include PortableFileAssociator instead and have cafe/eXpresso an alternative application.
There's PortableFileAssociator and IconRebuild here...

Re: Coffee
I'm trying PFA, it seems to be a good software:
Pros (between CAFE):
- have more features, like icon association and hotkeys
- allow to backup and restore registry
Cons (between CAFE):
- is less dynamic, it use registry (modify it to add associations and remove associations when you close it).. instead Cafe use it's ini file dynamically, it autodetect new portable file associations and add them to its ini.. then when it is active open files with the set software, otherwise open them with the default system software (no registry modifications, so also no problems if Cafe crash)
...at the moment I think Cafe is "more portable" than PFA
But please, I'd like to consider your reasons and eventually change my opinion

Re: Coffee
I have mixed source codes of the last version of C.A.F.E. and of eXpresso, made some bug fixes and created a new improved and customized software named Coffee ^^

We need your help to test, translate and improve it! Thanks

Re: Coffee
It has more or less the same features of expresso, but fix some bugs in the code (I'd like to contact the developer of expresso to report them, but I didn't found his email), has different name and icon, has more translations and fix some lines of them.
I'd like also to improve it in next releases, eventually integrating features of the last official c.a.f.e. version.
Any kind of collaboration is welcome!

Re: Coffee
Anyway I found two bugs in his code:
- file "cafe.ahk", line 320, text "Gui, Show, Center, %dblclicktitlegui%" (text to add)
- file "cafe.ahk", line 414, text "If (prog="ask" && !auto && !folder)" (text to remove)

Re: Coffee
Yes but I can't find his email. Can you post a message in the topic of cafe mod to report that two bugs? ..even if I think the developer have already found that bugs
ps: do you like Coffee? ^^

Re: Coffee
eXpresso is the new name for C.A.F.E Mod
But the latest version of the program's name is C.A.F.E Mod, so the newer version (which isn't out yet) will be called eXpresso.
I do like Coffee Pretty nice name too I'm going to switch over to it when I have time to import settings manually.
BTW, I found his email... which is the weirdest one ever.

Re: Coffee
I just started using Coffee a couple days ago and I've noticed a couple of bugs:
Command switches/modifiers in shortcut (lnk) files are ignored.
Attempting to changing a shortcut's name causes the launching of programs as if their hotkey was activated.

Re: Coffee
Thanks for the reports. We are working on many aspects of the Suite, but when we have some times we try also to fix them
cafe/coffee config files
I haven't developed a version for Lupo's Suite yet, but here's a list of extensions for various portable software programs out there.
Lupo's already commented on this over at portablefreeware.com so I assume he's cool with me posting it here. It will obviously continue to grow so if anyone develops a config file of their own, please let me know.

Re: Coffee
Thanks for it.. the Coffee version included in the Full Suite version already include a list of the most common extensions for some portable software.
In future I'd like to work again on it and make small improvements and fixes to this software, would you like to help me?

One of the things I did with Kitchen Sink was to make the entire portable software basically a gigantic file opening tool. When someone you know says "oh, I've got this tool that will open almost any file!" that's a pretty strong endorsement.

Yes, assolutamente.

Re: Coffee
Good, you could start to see the source code to begin to understand it. In these next weeks I'll try to work on it again.
Re: Coffee
I'm creating a full list of extensions for Coffee, that I'll include in the next Suite release.. It includes more than 300 file formats supported.
Re: Coffee
I have a problem with Coffee. It doesn't work
and then...
OS: Windows 7.

Re: Coffee
I have checked the code and seems to be ok, so the problem may be an incompatibility of hotkeys with Windows 7.
Given that this is a software I have only partially improved and fixed, but not created by me (and in a scripting language that I don't know very well), I have some problems to fix the issue.
Anyway you could help me saying if the error appears at the app startup or when you use some hotkeys. You could also help me trying it (copy the app on a usb key, to have exactly the same settings) on a previous Windows edition. Thanks..

Re: Coffee
Oh, please please please give an option to disable hotkeys, or at the very least customize them! Right now it's conflicting with a lot of other key assignments I have, but I like the file association capability so much...

Re: Coffee
I want to report that eXpresso (previously known CafeMod) is under development again and so Coffee it will be probably no longer developed. So you can find the new beta version of eXpresso at this link, if you want to try it:

Re: Coffee
I have started to help the eXpresso developers to improve and fix their version. Since version 2010.02 of the Suite, eXpresso is included instead of Coffee and is available separately here:
