Suite skins

Since version 6.60 the Suite support also menu skins. If you want, you can create a new skin for the Suite and post it here. If users like your creation, it will be included in the next Suite release.


Guide lines to create skins:
1. the logo have to appear at the top of the skin, but you can choose a different font to write "Lupo PenSuite"
2. you can create a completely new skin or modify the Base one (download here)
3. you can change icons for the right menu or keep the default set (now in this menu are supported more items)
4. you can decide to use resources of other authors and add copyright info in the textual file that describe the skin (include it in the archive)
5. obviously you have to respect the size of the skin (at the moment are not supported different sizes)

I am also playing around with some skins I have created. There is not much that I would make public yet, but I am getting there. Two questions:

• What are the reqirements of the skin (i.e. does the logo have to appear, etc.). Can i use existing skins as template and just modify them or does someone have a copyright or something?
  
• How is the menu displayed (directx or opengl or something else)? My screenshotprogram fails to capture the menu.
  

I am using ressources from deviantart.com, textures mostly, and the original creators usually demand that they are credited with a link to their profile in deviantart when their work is used. Are you willing to do this when you put the skins on your site?

It uses textures from AsunderStock from deviantart. This has no "Lupo-branding" and so is for my own personal use only. But what do you think?

Good work ...you can consider to create some skins for the project, it will be very good..
I try to indicate guide lines to create skins:
- the logo have to appear at the top of the skin, but you can choose a different font to write "Lupo PenSuite"
- you can create a completely new skin or modify one between LupoBase, LupoBlue, LupoGreen or LupoRed (they are under the creative commons that cover the project)
- you can change icons for the right menu or keep the default one
- you can decide to use resources of other authors and add copyright info in the txt that describe the skin and is included in its archive
- obviously you have to respect the size of the skin, at the moment are not supported different sizes

To make a screenshot of the skin you can use Stamp R Sist or a software like FS ScreenCapture (to make the shot you have to use hotkeys, otherwise the skin disappear).

How do I change the fontcolour in the menu? If I do a light skin, the white font is not readable. I have seen it somewhere, but i cant find it anymore

Unfortunately at the moment you can only change the font color of the window view, but not of the skinned menu. This feature maybe will added in next releases..

Ok, my first skin to be made public. Something completely different, hope you like it:

This would look better if the font on the right would be dark, so it wouldnt need a dark background, but i like it anyway. As soon as the fontcolour can be changed i will redo it. Never mind the way i named my folders. What i named "Transfer" is the videofolder. You can decide if you want to use my icons or the old ones. If you want the old ones simply copy the folder "IconTheme" from another skin into the "LupoPaper"-folder and replace my icons.
The texture comes from ~scanned-stock on deviantart.com.

You could think to resize the image used as template to have an image less cut on the right and the bottom..

I cut the image on the bottom and the right on purpose, because i didn't have enough room to fit all the "clickable" surfaces. They would have been over transparent areas.
Do you have any plans to make the fontcolour customizable in the near future?

I have posted on Salvador forum (the author of the main launcher) asking this feature, now I hope he would implement this feature in the next release.

Somehow i always start out with an image in my head of what it should look like, and when i am far enough to try it out for the first time i realize: damn, i can't read anything on the left (or right) side. Bummer. I tried making the colours lighter so i have some sort of grey as the background, but it just doesn't look like i want it to.

Yes, unfortunately asuite is not updated so frequently, but I hope in the next stable release ^^

ASuite was originally made by a member of PortableApps.com. So the ASuite skins are compatible with PAM (Portable Apps Menu) Themes.

And um... my point is... there's some really good themes for the PAM menu (which should work very well with ASuite) at...

Well, unfortunately thats not true. The layout is different, some buttons are not there (eject-button)...

Yes, unfortunately these skins are not fully compatible..
Obviously would be very good if the two projects standardize the skin support, even if I think it will not happens..

@ Hilmar: nice skin, I only don't like very much the Lupo PenSuite writing and the logo image in this skin ..they seem to be out-of-focus and the logo smaller then normally... can you try to fix it? thanks

Hi Lupo

Trying to work on some more skins i found some areas that make it hard to be creative and\or line up things.
I've posted a red-lined picture to show some areas maybe you could adjust in the program that would allow
for more flexibility in the skin graphics. Hope you can read the red-lines in this smaller picture, if you can't
let me know and i'll send you the full size picture.

Another quick skin, just was testing some things when i made this one.
Something a little different, i call it LupoVeniceGlass.
