Installation problems?

An user contact me to report a problem during the installation of the Suite. We tried to do some tests, but we haven't understood what cause this issue.

Isn't it possible you have still firefox running while installing the Pensuite?

It is an installation in a different directory of previous release, so files come from the installer and aren't active.
The issue seem to be caused by the wizard itself, but it's strange because the MD5 code is correct. And the other problem is that the error doesn't occur always for the same file, but with different files each test.
Any idea? Do you think could be a system problem? Or a problem of the pendrive? Any advice is obviously welcome

I think it's the file in the installer, because it say "error opening file for writhing" .
If this happens with different files and different tests then it only can be the installer.

I tested the zero version and it was ok.
I will try the full version to and test the installer.

Thanks for the tests.. But it's strange because the MD5 is correct and other users have extracted the Suite from the same installer without problems, so I thought it's a system problem..even if I don't understand what..

I made a test instalation, Without any problem.
Maybe you're right, it's a system problem.
I use XP sp1 on my pc.

I was one who had a lot of problems when installing version 6.70 full. As it was said above, the installation never crashed at the same place. Sometimes was when installing Firefox, others Audacity,....
I tried to install running on Xp and Vista = not working
Downloaded with interner manager = not working
MD5 = fine

I couldn't believe it, I had been working with 6.65 in the same pen with no problems at all.
When I was ready to give up, I formatted my 2Gb pen in NTFS instead of Fat32... and it worked!. I was able to install the same file that in Fat32 I had had problems.

that's maybe the problem. I made a test on a ntfs pendrive.
I try to do the same test on a fat32 pendrive, and see what it does do.

I did a test intallation on a fat32 pendrive.
No problems it only took about 10 min before it finiched, but i had no problems.

Thanks for tests ...this make the problem even more "mysterious".. Couldn't be a problem of the pendrive itself?

If it's the pendrive itself then you must have also problems with otherthings installed on it.
Did you tryed a older version (6.5) on the same pendrive?

Finally i think i found the problem when updating to the newest version. The problems started again.
The problem appears when I put the downloaded file in the pen. And i try to install in the same pen.
If I extract the file from the desktop to the pen, everything is fine

SOLVED !!!

So it was only a problem of space on the usb key..good

I'm trying to improve the installer to support also language pack extraction during the wizard process..but it is not so easy. If someone know NSIS language, I'd like to improve this feature.

The easy way to support language pack extraction during the wizard process and some more advanced options would be to use a more user-friendly setup routine generator software, like Paquet Builder: http://www.gdgsoft.com/pb/

Thanks for the advice.. but I have developed this new feature of language pack installing, that will be available from the next Suite release.
